What is Feng Shui?

Also known as 'geomancy' or the 'Art of Placement', Feng shui began 5000 years ago as a way for the ancient farmers of China to understand the land around them, the wind and the seasons, the mountains and the rivers. 

Energy

The works of the Art Abundance Project work with the energy in your environment to promote joyful, abundant energies.  The bright colors and positive images are designed to enliven the energy and let the qi flow freely.  Feng shui is the art of promoting prosperity, abundance and general well being by working with the energy, qi, pronounced "chee," that flows through a living or working space.

Yin and Yang

Feng shui takes into consideration yin, feminine and passive energy, and yang, which is masculine and hot. The works of the Art Abundance Project have each been designed with a balancing of this yin and yang energy in mind or to bring more of a particular energy into your life.           

Elements

Feng shui also looks at the five elements - water, fire, wood, metal, and earth. The elements that have been used in each Art Abundance image have also been carefully considered and are used to draw in or balance specific energies.

Bagua

 

The points on the compass, with eight separate directions - north, northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest, west, and northwest - are also important in Feng-Shui.  A process known as 'energy mapping' using the 'Bagua' is used to determine the correct use of space inside a building. 

A consciousness of this 'energy mapping' lies behind each Art Abundance Project art work. The energies of all the art works can be increased depending on where they are placed in your home.  Suggestions for where to place each painting to reap the optimum benefits are described in the information page for each work.
